Kaninga Village

Kaninga village is located east of Kasungu district in Sub Traditional Authority Kapichira, about 80 kilometers from district headquarters. With Chief Maria and her community, we built the school infrastructure for Mapango Junior Primary School with buildOn. This project was the first school block for 261 learners of which 50% are girls. Funded by family and friends in 2015. Thank you, Team JBR!

In 2019, the Mapango classrooms were used for a two-year buildOn Adult Literacy Program in the evenings. The Adult Literacy Program taught 120 adults reading, writing, and mathematics, as well as economic development programs for the community.

In 2022, we are grateful to the Harbor Road Foundation and Formidable Joy for the opportunity to reconstruct the current borehole and water pump at Kaninga village to improve the access to clean water for the community and students.
